DOA Camera

I am currently without a camera.

My poor old Olympus may be terminal, it has bit the bullet….I having been waiting now for 3 long weeks to see if it is fixable. If it’s not, I am going to have to buy a new one.

It happened shortly I came back from a weekend up at Saugutuck. I was just heading out for a hike on a trail in the area and grabbed my camera. I always take my camera with me wherever I go. Something about it just did not look right, but for a minute, I couldn’t say what the problem might be. Then I realized that the outer lens was missing. I dug around at the bottom of my bag, found the lens and the little plastic piece that kept it in place and instead of a little country hike, I immediately drove over to Norman Camera on Westnedge Ave to see if the lens could be reattached.

Apparently, they can’t do much. Norman Camera, considered the only REAL camera shop in town for as long as I can remember no longer sells film and no longer repairs cameras. My poor baby has to go back to the company and because it is an older model (bought 5 or 6 years ago) Olympus may not have the replacement unit needed to fix my baby. If they can fix it, it may take up to 9 weeks until I get it back. Arghhh!

I sadly removed the memory card, lens cap, strap and the broken pieces and drove back to the trailhead, with only my phone for a camera. I don’t think I can make it without my real camera – the phone is really a poor substitute.

Currently, this is all that is left of my camera while the rest is in the shop.
