A snowy picture – Yesterday, the sun was bright and the sky bright blue, creating diamonds that glittered all along the ground. Tree branches were topped by fat snow blankets, making a picture fit for Currier and Ives. The picnic table wore 14 inches of the white stuff. Despite the sunny skies, it was deceptively cold. Cold enough to freeze the inside of my nose whenever I took a deep breath.
Today it’s gray and damp; the picture postcard has turned the snow to dirty mush. Melting icicles drip cold water down my neck as I open the door to let myself in. The snow on the picnic table is down to 6 inches. Wish I could lose weight that fast.
Welcome to Michigan in the winter.
